Are your friends holding you back from success?

I had a very meaningful conversation with a family member, and we were talking about whether the people that are in your life or, you allow to be in your life, are holding you back from success.

This conversation really made me research this question and I found that this concept is really true.  Being a soft-hearted person can sometimes mean that you feel sorry for people who are going through a hard time and you want to lend your support.

 There is nothing wrong with doing this, but it can also open you up to people who decide that you are stupid because you just want to be their friend and not be judgmental.


I find that some women are so catty, and they think that you are supposed to be at their "beck and call."  We as friends are supposed to support each other, and be glad when one of our friends is experiencing a "win" in their lives.

Are your friends holding you back from success?

Yes, they could be, because of their negativity.  I am a loner by nature so many times my friends are loners too.  This year I will be evaluating each and every friendship that I have, to determine what changes I will make concerning friendships. To ensure that I continue on my journey to success.

I actually have one friend and she is so encouraging, and we encourage each other.  She is always there to give me tips that will help me do better in my life, and I really appreciate her caring nature.

Never have I seen this lady turn on me, or, try to undermine me in any way.

The signs that someone may be holding you back are:

• They are not trying to improve their lives.
• They always have a negative comment to say about you.
• You will see them looking at you in a condescending manner when you look at them out the corner of your eye.
• They try to prevent you from working on yourself or they try to tie your time up so you cannot work on yourself.
• Some are always looking for a handout from you.
• Some of them get mad when you cannot afford to buy them gifts during the holiday because you have to buy them for your own family.
• If you mention that you want to go back to school or start a business, they tell you "you are too old!"
• They want you to tell them all of your dreams and secrets.
• They spend every dime that they have.

I didn't want to believe that all these facts were true but they are.  Sometimes you are better off without friends until the right one comes along and keep working on yourself to be greater.
